Category Archives: random happiness

here i am again, trying to catch up from the last month’s photos! it’s definitely been a busy december. i wanted to share a few things that have been making me happy, umm, since november? hahaha

i’m addicted to dresses and scored 5 lovlies from etsy for a mere $60! which is amazing for vintage!

new floss always excites me!!

i bought these amazingly cute coasters for amy and i.

finally cleaned up my jewelry/accessory area! i’m so proud of it and i don’t feel like such a mess anymore! hooray!!

i got this tiny sewing machine at hobby lobby, isn’t it soo sweet!

i’m severly in love with emily martin’s work! it’s whimisical and eccentric, something i always hope to be and be seen as. her etsy shop is filled with so many beauties!

i will try my best to be better about writing. i’ve been greatly busy with ninjacat business. and i’m celebrating my first sale to someone i don’t know! i mean i appreciate every sale i receive from friends but there is something very special about knowing that my creations are being enjoyed by someone i’ve never met.

what’s making you smile these days???

here it is, already about to be december and i’m trying to update about october! life is moving by soooo fast. so here are some photos from the last month and a half!

went to colorado to see my parents on october 14th. it was so much fun and the perfect time to go! so beautiful!!!

robot dancing time on the mountain!

with my little brother, matthew, on the coolest rock over looking the valley!

next comes pumpkin carving at my friend’s place! lots of guts a flying that night.

it’s really hard to be graceful in a skirt while working with a pumpkin, but somehow i pulled it off without flashing anyone, go me!

i LOVE jena’s smile in this photo!

this was the first year EVER that amy and i have dressed up for halloween together. we were siamese twins just ripped apart, it was a blast!

while i was at the CSS show, i dressed up as a kitty bandit. this was the only reasonably okay photo i took of my costume though.

soooo, that was october. november started with shows (which you have seen!) and probably one of the best thrifting trips of my life! my guy and i went to the denton mini mall and had a great time treasure hunting. it was made even more fun when i spotted this storm trooper’s helmet.

it was apparently my lucky day for finding great vintage luggage. look at what i scored!

i love round suitcases, so i was estatic when i found two!

so that’s enough for this post, more photos of this wonderful month coming soon!

some of these i meant to post a couple of weeks ago, but they still make me happy regardless, so here they are! like fall finally being here! yayyyy!!!

i love cool weather! it’s cold weather i don’t like though. but i do like that i can wear tights comfortably now. i have a whole slew of them.

i’m so excited that my tacocat productions brooches will be included in the cowtown indie bazaar’s goody bags this weekend! they look all nice and professional!

i will be launching my new line of ninjacats this week!! stay tuned cause they are really gonna blow your mind!

i got a new tattoo last week! can i get sappy for a moment? here goes… this tattoo resembles my love of my twin sister, amy of compositions of wool. i am one lucky lady to have been born right next to my soulmate. she is the kindest, most intelligent, and most creative person i know. i truly admire her drive for happiness. she is always there for me even when it’s inconvenient  for her like when i feel like i’m dying and she comes home from work to take care of me. she really is the most beautiful soul in my life.

the illustration is by emily martin of the black apple. i just adore her artwork and when i saw this, i just knew it was perfect. i get my tattoos done at the salty dog tattoo shop in fort worth by jon hill. (photo courtesy of tiffany wolf)

it was funny, i didn’t realize i was wearing the same dress the girls were wearing until i was at the tattoo shop. hilarious!

anyway… moving on! look at this cute record holder i bought at the local record store! cute, eh?

i’ve started collecting these. i think they’ll be great to display my items at craft shows.

this whole weekend was happiness for me! which i really needed. lately i’ve been in a funk.

yesterday i woke up early to run errands and drove around town with my windows down listening to bad assss tunes. came home and got a lot of ninjacat work done, then went to denton and had a nice dinner with a friend. after that i headed to dan’s silverleaf for the peter wolf crier/milagres/RTB2 show. it was spectacular!! i haven’t been to a show since july so it was great to see an out of this world show again. the night ended with a very nice guy telling me that i was a “cool, sexy nerd” and YES that is a very high compliment to me, haha. it was sweet and something i kinda needed since right now i’m on a strict no-dating-while-i’m-doing-serious-soul-searching work on myself. a gal can get really lonely during this phase and sweet words are a nice and appreciated pick me up.

today was glorious as well. it was so nice to relax in a cozy bed with my cats watching the rain through the open blinds. i napped half of the day and got more work done for the ninjacats. what a weekend it has been!

next week amy and i will be heading to colorado to spend time with our family. i’m so excited to see them! it’s been exactly a year! my baby brother doesn’t look so little anymore!

so i guess i talked your ear off? or eyes off….? i hope you’re doing well. what’s making you happy these days?? i want to hear about it!

i feel like it’s important to focus on the good in our lives instead of on only what we want but don’t have. i know what i want but until then i’ll celebrate the little and big things making me happy right now!

2 big things:

on sept 1st i was promoted!! i’ve been at my job for 2 and a half years and i really like what i do. i plan on staying there for a while because i know i can learn a lot and be constantly challenged to do my best. the people i work for are incredibly supportive of me and what i do in my creative life as well. i feel extremely lucky to work where i do.

i found out that my all time favorite band, hot rod circuit, will be doing a small reunion tour!! i’ll *hopefully* be flying to chicago to see them play at the bottom lounge in november. i can’t wait!!! they have been so influencial to my life and my heart over the years.

little things making me smile:

organized floss boxes!! i love color and i love my embroidery floss, it’s just so nice to see it all in rows instead of plastic baggies.

cat ears! i wear these randomly just cause. my cats look at me weird but i’m just trying to fit in with them is all!

i found out i was approved to sponsor the cowtown indie bazaar! i’m so excited to donate some of my handmade items for the goody bags! here’s a sneak peek…

lucky thrifting finds have been throwing themselves at me lately. my favorite is this purse i found last week, i’ve been hunting for an accessory with an elephant on it.

i found one of the coolest etsy cat lady finds ever! this here sleeping cat in a basket lint brush was purchased as soon as i saw it. how adorable!

another thing that has made me smile recently is getting packages from etsy that are wrapped up like presents. it totally makes me forget that i spent money for the item. it’s greatly appreciated when a seller takes the time to make a purchase special. i hope that the people that buy my items feel the same way.

what are some of the things making you happy? i want to know!

i’m struggling with the blog-o-sphere. meaning i’m not really keeping a schedule or updating like i intentionally planned. life has changed a bit in direction so i’m sort of feeling my way through the weeks until i figure out what i want to really grasp onto. but there are things around that make me smile these days.

my mom gave me her sewing machine several years ago and last week i finally took it out of the case and used it. i’m in love with it!!!

it took a few frustrating tries to get the tension right but thanks to the internet it was fixed!

from there, i started sewing cute bows thanks to this tutorial. it was mega easy, which is wonderful for a beginner like me.

wearing the bows is even MORE fun than making them too! i can’t wait to look for more pretty fabric to use!

i bought sewing thread for the first time in years, can’t wait to see what i’ll make with such gorgeous colors.

here’s an awkward photo of myself that i’m kinda liking. i’m an awkwardly shy person to begin with so i feel like this kinda captures it.

my cat, sophie is addicted to the tub. it’s the first place she goes to every morning. she takes her “baths” in there, rolls around, basically has a blast. i wish tubs were that fun for me too.

the most important thing that is making me smile these days are my friends. not trying to sound sappy but my goodness friends are so amazing to be around when your heart gets broken. they have the best and most comforting words ever. i don’t think i’d be doing so well if if weren’t for them.

anyway, so what’s making you smile right now? i’d love to know!

have a great weekend, folks!

little things making me happy around my house right now…

i picked up this little beauty at the denton mini mall a few weeks back. i’ve been dying to have one of these dishes. i’ve been looking for just the right rooster one but stumbled upon this which is even better!!

i love turning my painting sketches into embroidery pieces. it’s so much fun playing with different stitches!

the next two are from my friend blake wilson, who is a very talented self taught artist. i wish i had the skill to draw the types of patterns and creatures he does. he made this drawing for me as a swap piece. i painted a muscle man for him.

the photo of the wooden painted cat figurine is something blake picked up for me from sante fe, it looks so happy!

this little lady below is one of two loves of my life when it comes to cats. my roxie cat.

i’ve noticed lots of painted plastic toys on etsy lately, particularly dinosaurs. i got this group at thrift town and started painting away at them this morning.

i can’t wait to get more to paint! anyway, i’ve gotta run. apparently i’m the wasp killer of the house and must attend to this job now. take care, friends!
